The Weatherly Scholarship program is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas.

Scholarships are awarded each spring to high school and college students.

To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

• Maintain a permanent address in Cooke County, Texas. Residents with a permanent address in bordering counties may be considered at the discretion of the Team.
• Be a young person; meaning a person who is 16-24 years of age.
• Demonstrate significant financial need.
• Provide three letters of recommendation:
  • From a teacher/professor
  • From a church member or pastor
  • From a person who can speak to character, academic achievement, and community involvement.

Scholarships are scored on a 100 point scale and awards are made using the following allocations.

Score	Award
95 or over	$5,000
90-94	$4,000
85-89	$3,000
80-84	$2,000
70-79	$1,000

All applicants must provide the Student Aid Index from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of the financial need score. There is a link to a calculator to help determine this on the application page. There is a new FAFSA for the 2024-2025 academic year. We have some guidance for you and links to other resources about the new FAFSA.
